US Oil and Gas Rig Count Down 1 on Week to 620 Rigs: Baker Hughes

US oil and gas total rig count was down by one rig on the week to 620, according to Baker Hughes April 5. This is the lowest combined level since Feb. 2

  • US Oil: 508 (+2) – oil rigs are down by 13.9% on the year, or 82 rigs.
  • US Gas: 110 (-2)
  • US Gas rigs are down by 30.4% on the year, or 48 rigs. This puts gas rigs at their lowest level since Jan 2022.
  • Miscellaneous: 2 (-1) – down by 1 rig on the year
  • Canadian Rigs: 136 (-15) – up 7.1% year-on-year, or 9 rigs.
  • Canadian rigs have been in near constant successive declines since peaking at 234 on Feb. 16. They are now at their lowest level since Jan. 5.
