US Special Envoy: Conflict Between Israel And Hezbollah Not Inevitable

Wires carrying comments from David Satterfield, US Special Envoy for Middle East Humanitarian Issues, stating that the US, "does not believe that a conflict involving Lebanon and Israel is in any way inevitable."

  • Satterfield says, "there is no indication on any side that there is an intent to precipitate a conflict or war," but warns, "it's essential that there be no provocative actions undertaken by Iran or Hezbollah."
