USD & JPY Firm Up As E-minis Turn Red, NZD Takes Modest Hit From CPI Miss

A quiet start to the session saw USD & JPY pick up a bid as e-minis turned red, even as headline flow has been rather thin. AUD had erased gains registered earlier against safe havens, but still sits towards the top of the G10 pile. The final Trump-Biden debate is about to kick off at the top of the hour.

  • NZD took a hit as New Zealand's CPI figures missed both market & RBNZ forecasts. The reaction move was fairly limited, with the RBNZ's focus already on further easing.
  • USD/CNH peeked above yesterday's high owing to the latest round of greenback purchases, as it awaits the PBoc fix.
  • USD/KRW has crept higher following yesterday's demand for USD & as South Korea's coronavirus case count has continued to rise beyond 100.
  • A flurry of PMI data from across the globe, UK retail sales and a speech from BoE's Ramsden feature on today's economic docket.
