DOLLAR-YEN: USD/JPY last Y112.97, operating in a 12 pip range after closing
Friday virtually unch. with USD & JPY sitting atop the G10 pile. Worth noting
that price action on Friday was muted as Japan observed a national holiday & the
U.S. enjoyed a half-day session.
- The rate initially moved lower as JPY garnered some strength as U.S. equities
slid for their half-session. However, USD/JPY recouped its losses thereafter,
with USD closing the day as the G10's leader.
- The Nikkei 225 is posting modest gains at writing, slightly weighing on the
yen.
- As the rate has just broken above its 50-DMA at Y112.95, bulls eye the Nov 22
highs of Y113.22. On the downside, bears eye Friday's low at Y112.66. A break
below would shift their focus to the Nov 20 low at Y112.31.
- Key economic releases this week include industrial production & Tokyo CPI due
Friday. Elsewhere, BoJ's Masai is due to speak also on Friday.
