USD Marginally Firms After China Inflation Below Estimates

The USD marginally extended its recovery from session lows after China inflation printed below expectations for both CPI and PPI (CPI y/y 0.1%, 0.3% forecast, -3.6%y/y for PPI, -2.5% prior).

  • The AUD which was retreating from session highs before the print now sits unchanged from opening levels, AUD/USD last prints at $0.6780/85.
  • Kiwi briefly dealt through Wednesday's high before paring gains, NZD/USD sits ~0.1% firmer at $0.6375/80.
  • Yen has pared its early gains and sits a touch above ¥134 handle.
