USD Slightly Lower, But Much Of The Region Out Today

FOREX

Not surprisingly, G10 FX markets have gotten off to a further muted start in Monday Asia Pac trading. A reminder that much of the region, including China, Hong Long and Singapore, as well as Japan are out today.

  • The BBDXY sits slightly lower, last near 1241.25. EUR/USD is marginally higher last near 1.0800. USD/JPY is down a touch, last near 149.20. Liquidity will be lighter though, with only AU and NZ markets trading.
  • Cross asset wise, US equity futures are down a touch, while US bond futures sit a touch above end Friday levels from NY.
  • NZD/USD saw brief dip lower, but found support around 0.6135 level, which also coincides with the 50-day EMA region (0.6137). We last track near 0.6145/50.
  • AUD/USD is relatively steady close to 0.6525.
  • We do have RBNZ Governor Orr before parliament later, where the Financial Stability Report will be discussed. There is likely to be more focus on Orr's early Friday morning speech though.
  • Otherwise, there are no major event risks on the Asia Pac calendar today.
