Vietnams Binh Son Refinery Ramping Up Runs

Vietnam’s Binh Son refinery has increased crude throughput, after the government asked refiners to boost production to avert a fuel supply crunch.

• Output of the 130,000bl/day refinery is now operating at 112% of capacity. The refinery previously operated at 109% of capacity, the company said on Friday.

• The refinery will undergo major maintenance next year, Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical said in April.

• Vietnam has two refineries, with combined capacity of 330,000 bl/day, meeting 70-80% of its fuel demand. Authorities have been asking to boost production of both refineries.

• Fuel shortages persist in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and some other localities.

• Last week, the Trade Minister Nguyen Hong Dien asked state-backed fuel trades to release their commercial reserves to help localities facing supply shortages, a government website report shows.
