Vote On Governing Funding Package Underway Shortly

The United States House of Representative is shortly due to vote on the USD$467.5 billion spending 'minibus' to fund six government agencies through the end of Fiscal Year 2024 on September 30. LIVESTREAM

• The vote will be held under suspension of rules meaning it will require a two-thirds majority to pass and no amendments or debate will be considered.
• The package is expected to pass with a strong contingent of Democrat votes, upon which the bill will be handed to the Senate when it must be passed by midnight Friday to avert a partial government shutdown.
• Should the package pass both chambers of Congress, focus will turn to the next six spending bills which need to be passed before a second deadline on March 22. The second tranche of spending bills is considered more challenging and will include difficult negotiations on immigration, border security, and defence spending.
