WH: No Plan To Replenish SPR This Year

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has told reporters that the Department of Energy has no plans to replenish the Strategic Petroleum Reserve this year, after reports yesterday claimed that oil purchases might begin to take place if oil dips below USD$80 a barrel.

  • Jean-Pierre: "The DOE put together a plan to replenish the SPR a few months back. That plan is currently going through the standard regulatory review process. It anticipates that replenishment wont occur until well into the future, likely after FY23, I don't have anything further to preview at this stage."
