What to Watch: EIA, FOMC, Brent Option Expiry

  • The EIA weekly petroleum inventory data is due for release this afternoon at 15:30BST. Inventories are expected to show a draw in crude, gasoline and distillates with just a small rise in refinery utilisation according to a Bloomberg survey.
  • The Sep23 Brent options expire against the 19:30BST futures close price today with the main strikes of note at 80$/bbl, 83$/bbl and 85$/bbl.
  • The US Fed rate decision is expected at 19:00 BST with the central bank widely expected to hike rates by 25bp as the market watches for indications on future policy.
