What to Watch: July FOMC Minutes

  • Today's main focus is on the July FOMC minutes this afternoon at 1400ET. Deutsche Bank analysts said they "will be looking for any discussion around the expected path of inflation, namely whether the softer CPI report we got last week was better than officials had penciled in."
  • DB also alert for basis behind the Fed "no longer forecasting a recession" as revealed by Fed Chair Powell at his post meeting presser.
  • Otherwise, incoming data this morning includes Building Permits and Housing Starts at 0830ET; Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization at 0915ET.
  • Meanwhile, the US Treasury will auction $50B 17W bills at 1130ET.
