  • US politics: House Speaker vote today w/ Representative Kevin McCarthy's chances in doubt.
  • Eye on chips curbs/trade: Japanese outlet Sankei reporting that Japanese Trade Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura will be in the US 5-10 January for discussions with officials regarding potential curbs on the export of semiconductor/microchip manufacturing equipment to China.
