LNG: Woodside Announced 15-Year LNG Supply Deal With China Resources

Woodside Energy has announced a long-term sale and purchase agreement with China Resources for approximately 0.6m tons of LNG per year over 15 years, commencing in 2027.

  • “This marks the first time Woodside on a standalone basis has signed a long-term sale agreement with a customer in China, Asia’s largest consuming market for LNG,” Woodside Executive VP & Chief Commercial Officer Mark Abbotsford said.
  • “And it is the first time China Resources has signed an agreement to procure LNG over a period of 15 years.”
  • China Resources is one of the biggest gas distributors in the country. Its 6.5m tpa LNG terminal in Rudong is set to commence operations in early 2026.
  • Once fully operational, the terminal will have an LNG storage capacity of 1.2m cubic metres and a natural gas supply capacity of 9 bcm/y, Platts reports.
