Yoon Overtakes Lee In Fluctuating Contest With 58% Of Votes Counted

SOUTH KOREA

With 58% of the vote counted, conservative People Power Party candidate Yoon Suk-yeol has overtaken liberal Democratic Party of Korea nominee Lee Jae-myung.

  • Yoon has 48.4% of the vote to Lee's 48.1%, making the contest still any candidate's game with milliont of ballots left to be tabulated.
  • Voting in the capital, Seoul, is mirroring that at the national level. With 52% of ballots in the city counted, Yoon leads Lee by the narrow margin 49.4% to 47.1%.
