Zeebrugge LNG Sendout Falls on Weaker German Demand

LNG

Sendout at Belgium’s 11.4m mtpa Zeebrugge LNG terminal is set to fall to its lowest monthly level since Dec. 21 as rising import capacity in Germany lowers demand from the terminal, Argus said.

  • Belgian sendout was 194 GWh/d on Feb. 1-12, compared to 381 GWh/d over the same period in 2023.
  • German imports from Belgium also slipped to 468 GWh/d from Jan. 1 – Feb. 12, compared to 693 GWh/d a year earlier.
  • Rising LNG sendout availability in Germany could continue to put pressure on Belgian demand for supply for transit eastwards, Argus said.
  • Germany's 5.8m mtpa Stade and 3.1m mtpa Wilhelmshaven 2 FSRUs are due to arrive in by the end of Q2.
  • Arrivals of new FSRUs will boost Germany’s import capacity to 31m mtpa from mid-2024, compared to the current 11.4m mtpa.
