47% Of Voters Would Consider A Third-Party Presidential Candidate In 2024

US

A new survey from Quinnipiac University has found that 47 percent of voters would consider voting for a third-party candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

  • Quinnipiac: “Independents say more than 2 to 1 (64 - 30 percent) that they would consider voting for a third-party candidate... [compared to] Democrats (61 - 35 percent) and Republicans (57 - 38 percent).”
  • Quinnipiac Analyst Tim Malloy said: "With neither President Biden nor former President Trump knocking it out of the park on favorability, almost half of the country would consider another option... a vivid indication that for many voters, the status quo is a no-go."
  • The longstanding independent group No Labels has threatened to run a third-party presidential ticket if President Biden and former President Donald Trump are their respective party nominees.
  • A third-party run could undermine Democrat support in swings states and if No Labels could entice centrist Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) to lead the ticket it would significantly impact Democrat prospects of retaining the Senate.
