Biden's Approval Rating Continues To Sink

US

President Biden's approval rating has continued to slump, reflecting negative voter sentiment from Congressional dysfunction which led to this week's ouster of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

  • According to RealClearPolitics, Biden's approval rating on 40.7% is the lowest he has experienced since August 2022, dipping below levels seen during the debt ceiling crisis in May/June.
  • Betting markets continue to see former President Donald Trump as the slight favourite to win the presidential election in 2024. According to Smarkets, Trump has an implied probability of 35.7% of winning the election, marginally ahead of Biden's 34% implied probability.
  • Election Betting Odds, a site which aggregates betting and political prediction markets, similarly has Trump as the marginal favourite.
  • A Marist poll released yesterday found that, "In a head-to-head 2024 presidential matchup, Biden (49%) and Trump (47%) are competitive among registered voters nationally."
