Biden To Deliver Remarks On Artificial Intelligence

President Biden will shortly deliver remarks to unveil voluntary commitments from tech companies to responsibly manage the risks posed by Artificail Intelligence and press Congress to take more action on regulation. (LIVESTREAM)

  • Biden’s Chief of Staff, Jeff Zients, said: "We need to make sure we're pulling every lever of the federal government to regulate and take action — and work with the Hill on legislation... to build the capacity to have the experts that we need in the federal government...."
  • Bruce Reed, White House deputy chief of staff for policy, said: "We know that government's going to have to do a lot more. And I think the companies recognize that, too."
  • Axios notes: “The White House is trying to learn from government mistakes when social media was in its infancy.”
  • The White House said in a statement: “As we advance this agenda at home, the Administration will work with allies and partners to establish a strong international framework to govern the development and use of AI," and notes that the OMB, "will soon release draft policy guidance for federal agencies."
