President Biden is shortly due to deliver remarks on his domestic 'Bidenomics' agenda and announce, "the largest investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak," in New Castle, Delaware. Livestream

  • Biden's speech comes in the aftermath of a survey from the New York Times/Siena College which found Biden trailing former President Donald Trump in 5/6 crucial battleground states and revealed a highly critical voter response to Biden's handling of the economy.
  • Observers will be watching to see if Biden addresses the survey directly, or offers a different economic message to the data-driven positive assessment which has failed to resonate with voters.
  • The White House said in a fact sheet ahead of Biden's remarks: "Today, the President is announcing $16.4 billion in awards for passenger rail projects thanks to the President's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which makes the largest investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak. In contrast, House Republicans, many of whom voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, are turning their backs on American infrastructure and proposing an appropriations bill that guts funding for Amtrak and makes draconian cuts to transportation and infrastructure programs."
