High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has told reporters that the JCPOA is "not dead" as the US, UK, and EU announce a new package of sanctions on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

  • Borrell: "For now, it is on standby. It’s not dead. But it's not moving."
  • US Special Envoy to Iran, Robert Malley, said in a statement accompanying the announcement: "Today, the United States sanctioned ten individuals and one entity connected to the Iranian regime’s brutal suppression of protests. These actions highlight our close coordination with our UK and EU partners, who also announced sanctions against Iranian targets today."
  • US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement: "In coordination with the United Kingdom and EU Council, we're designating additional Iranian officials and an entity connected to human rights abuses against peaceful protestors.
