ENERGY: Enbridge Evacuates Staff at Three Platforms but Operations Continue

Enbridge has evacuated employees from several offshore U.S. Gulf of Mexico platforms ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Francine, according to Reuters.

  • Chevron, Exxon and Shell have also evacuated some staff and closed some facilities as Francine advances towards landfall in Louisiana.
  • The first official measure of the impact on U.S. energy production will be released later on Tuesday by the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.
  • Enbridge evacuated staff from three offshore platforms, but operations continue using remote operators.
  • “Francine likely to become a hurricane today... ...hurricane warning extended eastward along the Louisiana coast” the National Hurricane Center said in the latest update.
  • “Francine is anticipated to be just offshore of the coasts of northeastern Mexico and southern Texas through today, and make landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday.”
