Gallup Poll Reveals Deep Mistrust Of China Amongst Americans

US-CHINA

Gallup has published a report showing that, “for the third straight year, China is mentioned most frequently by Americans as their nation’s greatest enemy…”

  • Gallup: “While there are stark differences along party lines, Democrats are the outlier in choosing Russia, with most Republicans and a large plurality of independents citing China.”
  • The survey comes as the US-China relationship continues to experience unprecedented level of strain with the continued fallout from the "spy balloon" incident and recent statements issued by US officials warning China against the provision of lethal aid to Russia.
  • The Hill: "Just 15 percent of Americans surveyed in the poll view China favorably. That marks the lowest percentage ever recorded in the survey, which has tracked sentiment toward China since 1979, and it continues a sharp decline in attitudes toward the country since 2018."
