German Fin Min-We Need New Attempt As EU-US FTA More Urgently

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner has penned an op-ed for German outlet Die Welt laying our his views for supporting the German and EU economies amid calling for a resurgence in globalisation. On EU-US relations and trade the minister states that "...after the American Inflation Reduction Act, we need a new attempt at a trade agreement with the USA all the more urgently", and talks up 'level playing fields' between allies.

  • Lindner - who heads the liberal pro-business FDP, which sits as the smallest party in the German governing coalition - states that on boosting growth and trade, "...decoupling from the Chinese market, for example, cannot be the solution. We can not freely leave the Chinese market to others. We must ensure that China remains connected to our cutting-edge technology."
