German Gas Supplies Can Sustain Winter If "Lucky With Weather"

Germany Economy Minister Robert Habeck has told reporters that Germany has "a chance to get through winter well," if everything goes well with gas usage saving and "we are lucky with the weather."

  • Habeck's comments, per Reuters: "Looks like that we will have two LNG terminals in operation this winter."
  • "Gas storages will be empty after winter."
  • "Gas storage capacity approaching 90% although we no longer purchase gas at any price."
  • "We will continue to support large gas importers like VNG and won't let them become insolvent."
  • Habeck also said that he expects LNG contracts to be singed during German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's trip to the Gulf this weekend.
