German Solar Power Output to Rise 37% YoY This Summer
POWER
German solar power generation is forecast to rise by 37% year on year this summer according to BNEF, as Germany continues to add new solar PV capacity at a fast pace, which will likely increase the number of negative prices.
- German power prices during daylight hours over the past ten days stood at €9.1/MWh, compared to €70.6/MWh during the rest of the day, as the number of solar installations continues to increase across the country, SEB AB wrote in a note.
- “The collapse in solar-hour-power-prices implies a collapse in solar power producer earnings,” Bjarne Schieldrop, chief commodities analyst at SEB AB wrote in the note. “Unless the earnings of the installations are secured with subsidies” or private purchase agreements.
