Bloomberg has reported that US President Joe Biden will host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a state dinner in June.
- A formal state visit signifies the growing importance of India as a counterbalance to China in the Indo-Pacific and part of a charm offensive designed to loosen commercial and political ties between India and Russia.
- India currently holds the presidency of the G20 and will host a leaders' summit in New Delhi in September which will likely be attended by Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated he may attend but his international travel may be revised in light of today's decision by the ICC to issue an arrest warrant on charges related to the war in Ukraine.
- Bloomberg notes: "The dinner with India’s leader will be Biden’s third formal state visit and dinner, following one he hosted for French President Emmanuel Macron in December and one for South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol scheduled for April 26."
