Iran JCPOA Deal Likely This Week

It is looking increasingly like a deal will be stuck this week to reincorporate Iran with the framework of the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal.

  • The Atlantic Council has published an article from an Iranian political insider suggesting that Tehran is ready to make a deal so negotiations in Vienna will now hinge upon whether the US are satisfied with Iran's nuclear enrichment threshold and are willing to provide assurances that future administrations cannot unilaterally scrap the deal again.
  • Tehran is particularly worried that a Trump administration after 2024 will withdraw from JCPOA and impose sanctions again.
