SECURITY
JCPOA nuclear deal talks with Iran are in doubt after key diplomats blamed 'external factors' for a breakdown in talks. It is likely that the 'external factors' refer to a last minute request from the Russian delegatation to attach sanctions relief to the final text.

  • Al-Qaq's remarks come as EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell also made a statement today blaming 'external factors' for the failure to reach a deal. Borrell wrote: 'A pause in Vienna Talks is needed, due to external factors. A final text is essentially ready and on the table. As coordinator, I will, with my team, continue to be in touch with all JCPOA participants and the U.S. to overcome the current situation and to close the agreement.
