Kremlin: We Must Be Patient On Nord Stream II

Wires and social media carrying comments from Kremlin press secretary Dimitry Peskov regarding the Nord Stream II gas pipeline.

  • Says that there is "no political motivation" behind the German regulator's decision to hold up certification of the NSII pipeline. Adds that given it is a German regulator that has made the decision there "it is impossible for us to intervene", adding that Russia "must be patient."
  • Says that any increase in gas suppliues to the EU is up to European energy companies.
  • Yesterday's decision by German regulators to hold up the certification of NSII over a technical legal issue could delay the approval and operation of the pipeline for a short while. However, it is not expected to result in any major threat to the gas artery coming online.
