Latest Polls Show Netanyahu Bloc On Verge Of Narrow Majority

ISRAEL

The latest opinion polling released ahead of the 1 November legislative election shows the bloc of parties supportive of former PM Benjamin Netanyahu either just short of or narrowly exceeding the 61-seat threshold required for a majority in the Knesset.

  • Panels Politics - Pro-Netanyahu Bloc (Likud, Shas, United Torah Judaism): 58 seats. Anti-Netanyahu Bloc (Yesh Atid, Blue & White, Zionist Spirit, Labor, Yisrael Beiteinu, Meretz, Ra'am): 56 seats. Joint List (Arab interest, no bloc association): 6 seats. Fieldwork: 5 Aug.
  • Direct Polls - Pro-Netanyahu Bloc: 61 seats. Anti-Netanyahu bloc: 54, Joint List: 5. Fieldwork: 4 Aug
  • Camil Fuchs - Pro-Netanyahu Bloc: 62 seats. Anti-Netanyahu bloc: 52, Joint List: 6. Fieldwork 4 Aug.
Impact on recently-agreed ceasefire in the Gaza strip between Israel and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) yet to be felt on electorate's voting preferences. The short conflict followed Israel's arrest of Bassem Saadi, supposed head of PIJ, in the West Bank last week. Forty-four Palestinians are believed to have died in the short flare-up, which saw Israel hit 170 PIJ targets and over 2,000 missiles fired from Gaza towards Israel.
