Lavrov: Russia Fully Supports Revival Of Iran Nuclear Deal

IRAN

Speaking alongside his Iranian counterpart in Tehran, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov states that Moscow 'fully supports the revival of Iran's 2015 nuclear deal with major powers'.

  • Lavrov: “Relations between Iran and Russia have reached the maximum point for all years. Trade turnover between Russia and Iran exceeded $4 billion last year. Russia and Iran condemn the practice of unacceptable unilateral sanctions.”
  • Iranian FM Hossein Amirabdollahian says that "all US sanctions should be removed for revival of Tehran's 2015 nuclear pact" and blames the US for stalled talks.
  • US has previously talked of narrowing window for a deal to be reached with Iran on its nuclear programme. Potential further difficulty in the future being the collapse of the Israeli gov't. Should Benjamin Netanyahu and his right-wing coalition return to power it would result in a much more belligerent Israel seeking to pressure US to abandon talks w/Tehran.
