Le Pen Leads Macron In 2nd Round Poll

An opinion poll from Brazilian pollster Atlas Politico has right-wing Rassemblement National leader Marine Le Pen leading incumbent President Emmanuel Macron for the first time ever.

• Second round polling, Atlas Politico, Fieldwork 4-6 April:
• Le Pen: 50.5% Macron: 49.5%
• Macron: 54% Mélenchon: 46%
• Macron: 60.8%, Zemmour: 39.2%
• Macron: 65.9%, Pecresse: 34.1%
• A couple of factors should be noted. Firstly, this outlet has not polled the French electorate before and therefore has no track record of reliability (the outlet was deemed by 538.com to have been the most reliable pollster of the 2020 US presidential election). Secondly, the margin between Le Pen and Macron remains well within the margin of error.
• Nevertheless, the poll does continue the trend of showing an increasingly tight race developing between Macron and Le Pen, who remain the two most likely candidates to go through to the second round run off following Sunday's first round.
