Malaysia Prime Minister To Have Audience With King At 4pm Local Time

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri will have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia at 16:00 MYT/09:00 BST today.

  • The Premier is expected to brief the monarch on tomorrow's Cabinet meeting and the tabling of Budget 2023, but all eyes will be on whether he will seek the dissolution of parliament, with some speculating that it could take place before the budget.
  • Sources told the Malaysia Star that preparations to table the Budget are going according to the plan and "it is still on, as far as we are concerned. But it also depends on the outcome of the Prime Minister's meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong."
  • Opposition leader Anwar said states controlled by the Pakatan Harapan alliance will not dissolve their assemblies, as per tradition, if a general election is called soon. The opposition has long been critical of the prospect of holding elections during the annual flooding season.
