The government is considering presenting nominees for the Bank of Japan governor and deputy governors to the Diet around February 10, Reuters reported, citing government and ruling party sources.

The candidates for governor and deputy governors are likely to conduct brief hearings on February 16 and 17 in the lower house, or House of Representatives, and on February 20 and 21 in the upper house, or House of Councillors.

The media report said the presentation day may change, depending on developments at the Diet, and may be brought forward a few days.

BOJ Governor Haruhiko Kuroda’s term ends on April 8 and the terms of Deputy Governors Masayoshi Amamkiya’s and Masazumi Wakatabe end on March 19.
