MNI BRIEF: Policymakers Should Support SMEs - Vice Premier

MNI (Beijing)

Policymakers at all levels should improve tax and financial support measures for SMEs and bring vitality back to the sector, according to Zhang Guoqing, vice premier of the State Council.

Speaking at the National Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Development Conference on Wednesday, Zhang said SMEs should play a role in major national science and technology projects and partner with large enterprises to jointly tackle key problems. SMEs must adapt to a new round of technological change including the acceleration of digital and green transformation and a move towards the mid- to high-end of the value chain.

Policy advisors and analysts recently told MNI China should focus policy measures on supporting the private sector in H2. (See MNI: China Seen Holding Off From Big Fiscal Stimulus - Bonds & Currency News | Market News)
