MNI: JACKSON HOLE - WHAT TO WATCH FOR (see full preview for more detail):
**Friday**: The first day centres around int'l conditions and mon pol (papers on
'Monetary Policy Divergence'/'Spillovers to Advanced and EM Economies').
- The main highlight of the weekend is Fed Chair Powell (1000ET/1500BST)
speaking on "Challenges for Monetary Policy" Text will be released at 1000ET,
and there is no Q&A. A secondary highlight Friday but still of note is BoE Gov
Carney giving the Luncheon Address (1500ET/2000BST).
- Note that both the keynote and the luncheon address are the most likely to
contain near-term policy discussions, with most of the rest of the weekend
devoted to academic/long-term issues.
**Saturday**: Likely the less interesting day from a markets perspective, though
RBA Gov Lowe (alongside IMF Chief Econ Gopinath and Bank of Israel Gov Yaron)
will be the most keenly eyed before the conference adjourns.
- Also of potential note is the 'General Discussion' at 1325ET/1825BST, which
closes the symposium. Usually this includes a key central bankers and is likely
to have discussion of current monetary policy issues.
