Moody's Warns Of Election Outcome, S. Africa Sells Linkers

  • Moody's warned that South Africa may struggle to make progress on addressing key challenges if a coalition government emerges after this month's elections. These challenges include "stimulating years of sluggish economic growth, curbing chronic power shortages and reducing high unemployment."
  • The ruling African National Congress' (ANC's) National Disciplinary Committee summoned ex-President Jacob Zuma for a hearing on Tuesday over his support for the newly former MK Party. Zuma's party membership has been suspended but he has not yet been expelled. He is expected to attend the hearing.
  • The National Treasury holds an auction for inflation-linked bonds.
