New COVID-19 Strain Case In Belgium, 5th Location So Far

Belgium has become the fifth location to have a confirmed case of the B.1.1.529 variant of COVID-19, or the 'Nu' variant. South Africa, Botswana, Israel, and Hong Kong already have at least one confirmed case each. Travellers from Malawi and Madagascar also found to have the variant, but no confirmed cases in each country yet.

  • EU leaders set to discuss how to contain the spread of the virus. Initially halting of flights from southern Africa had been hoped as a potential solution, but with a case now confirmed in Belgium this strategy could already prove outdated.
