Officials To Speak At Border With Belarus, Election Campaign In Focus

POLAND
  • Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak, Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski and ruling party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski will speak at four different sites along the Polish-Belarusian border. They will likely use these opportunities to defend the government's record on building up national security capabilities at a time when Wagner mercenaries are training Belarusian troops just a few miles from the border.
  • Rzeczpospolita reports that the governing party is preparing "seven-eight new proposals" to be unveiled this autumn as part of the official election campaign. Sources from within the party told the daily that there is a growing conviction that the new campaign staff is doing well, despite typical tensions associated with compiling the lists of candidates. The party is also reportedly looking to ramp up messaging emphasising its smooth cooperation with the President.

The controversial politician is seen as an influential figure in the far-right party, which comes third in most opinion polls. • Poland's macroeconomic docket is virtually empty until the release of flash July CPI data on Monday.
