One-Third Of Voters Still Undecided: YouGov

GERMANY

Latest YouGov poll ahead of the 26 September federal election shows only two-thirds of respondents have definitively made their minds up about which way to vote, leaving a large pool of individuals for parties to try to win over in the last stretch of the campaign.

  • YouGov poll: "Have you already decided how to vote in the national parliamentary election?": Yes: 62%, No: 23%, Don't know: 1%, No answer: 14%. Fieldwork: 3-7 September 2021. Sample size: 1,700
  • The centre-left Social Democrats continue to hold a lead in party opinion polling as speculation intensifies over what format the next governing coalition is likely to take.
  • However, if a full third of likely voters have not yet made up their minds there remains the potential for a shock election result that could bring various coalitions not seen as likely or possible based on recent polls into reality, or make some coalitions seen as a potential future gov't unworkable.
