Opinion Poll Gives PM's Labour A Wide Lead

NEW ZEALAND

The latest opinion poll from Newshub-Reid Research ahead of the September
19 general election gives Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's Labour Party a
wide lead over the main opposition Nationals.

  • Labour 60.9% (+4.4), Nationals 25.1% (-5.5), Green 5.7% (+0.2), ACT 3.3%
    (+1.5), New Zealand First 2% (-0.7). 16-24 July (chgs. w/ May).
  • Should these polling numbers reflect the vote in the general election,
Ardern's centre-left Labour would be able to govern with a comfortable majority.
  • The centre-right Nationals remain in a state of disarray following the
resignation of leader Todd Muller on July 14 after less than 2 months in office.
