Parliament Dissolution Likely To Happen On March 15

THAILAND

Thailand's House of Representatives will likely be dissolved on March 15 to pave the way for a general election to be held on May 7, the Bangkok Post reports citing deputy chief government whip Chinnaworn Boonyakiat.

  • "March 15 appears to be the most likely timing for Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha to announce he will dissolve the House and allow the new election to be called, considering the number of important bills that are waiting to be passed before the election."
  • Chinnaworn said that new budgetary bills have been excluded from the list of bills that need to be passed before the dissolution of the House in order to give the next administration more time to take responsibility for them.
