Wires carrying comments from UK PM Boris Johnson stating that it is vital to get the devolved gov't of Northern Ireland (the power-sharing executive) 'up and running'.

  • All three unionist parties in Stormont refusing to join the executive until the UK gov't disapplies the Northern Ireland Protocol of the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement. In order for the executive to be formed there must be representatives from both unionist and nationalist parties.
  • Prioritising getting the NI Exec functioning could indicate that the UK gov't is intent on bringing forward legislation to disapply the protocol, although this would likely take a significant period of time to pass through Parliament and be enacted.
