Polish President Calls On Allies To Donate Tanks To Kyiv

UKRAINE

Speaking at the WEF annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Polish President Andrzej Duda called on Ukraine's allies - referring primarily to Germany and the United States - to provide main battle tanks to Kyiv. During a panel sitting alongside the Lithuanian president, North Macedonian president, Spanish foreign minister, and Belarusian opposition leader in exile, Duda stated that "We hope and are trying to organise bigger support for Ukraine. We hope a few partners, allies, will give tanks to Ukraine,"

  • Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda stated that he "strongly believes" that Germany will eventually provide Kyiv with Leopard-2 main battle tanks.
  • Speaking in the House of Commons on 16 Jan, UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace announced that the UK gov't will boost its provision of Challenger 2 tanks and other materiel to Ukraine. Urged Germany to both provide tanks to Ukraine and allow other nations owning Leopard-2's to do the same.
