Potential For Early Flattening

JGB futures generally followed the oscillations observed in the U.S. Tsy market during overnight dealing, unwinding their early bid and more, before recovering from lows to finish unchanged on the session at the close.

  • The domestic docket will see the release of the outdated minutes from the BoJ’s Sep monetary policy meeting and BoJ Rinban operations covering 1- to 5- & 25+-Year JGBs. Monetary base data is also due.
  • The spill over from the twist flattening of the U.S. Tsy curve on Tuesday, coupled with the presence of 25+-Year BoJ Rinban operations and Tuesday’s weakness in the super-long end of the JGB curve, could provide a flattening impulse for the space in early Tokyo trade.
  • Still, the proximity to Wednesday’s U.S. Federal Reserve decision may limit risk taking capabilities.
