US-RUSSIA

Wires carrying comments from Russian President Vladimir Putin claiming that "We are ready to work with any US president," and that he reiterates that he prefers incumbent Joe Biden to Donald Trump as US president. Putin's comments come a day after Biden made disparaging remarksabout Putin at a San Francisco fundraiser. Putin called the comments "rude".

  • Speaking to a journalist at VGTRK Putin stated that “You and I recently spoke, and you asked me who is preferable for us as the future president of the United States. I said that we will work with any president, but I believe that for us, for Russia, Biden is more preferable. And judging by based on what he just said, I am absolutely right, because this is an adequate reaction to what was said on my part,”
  • The prospect of a Trump presidency is viewed by some analysts as 'better' for Russia insofar as US support for Kyiv and NATO could dry up significantly, raising the prospect of a Russian military victory in Ukraine.
