Putin Warns Of Consequences From Sanctions After Ominous War Warning

Comments from Russian President Vladimir Putin hitting wires a short time ago:

  • Putin: The continued use of sanctions against Russia could lead to 'catastrophic' consequences for the global market.
  • Putin: We are feeling sure of ourselves but risks remain.
  • Putin: The transition to green energy has resulted in an increase in energy prices...Russian companies have to be prepared for an oil embargo from Europe...moves to cut reliance on Russian energy has resulted in a rise in gas prices in Europe.
  • Putin: Russian energy companies are reliable partners...Russia was able to swiftly re-direct energy supplies.
Putin's comments come after yesterday's ominous statement from Putin to the State Duma that “the West wants to fight us until the last Ukrainian....It’s a tragedy for the Ukrainian people, but it looks like it’s heading in that direction...Everybody should know that largely speaking, we haven’t even yet started anything in earnest,”
  • For some time the Russian media has spoken about the military not using its full capabilities in Ukraine, and this now seems to be being stated by the Kremlin as well.
