QatarEnergy Sign Deal for 17 New LNG Carriers

QatarEnergy have signed an agreement with Hyundai for the supply of 17 LNG carriers, according to Reuters.

  • The deal "will support (QatarEnergy's) expanding LNG production capacity from the North Field LNG expansion and Golden Pass LNG export projects as well as its long-term fleet replacement requirements", QatarEnergy said in a statement.
  • Qatar’s North Field Expansion will boost its liquefaction capacity from 77m mpta to 126m mtpa by 2027.
  • This deal adds to QatarEnergy’s existing contract with Hyundai for 60 LNG carriers in the first phase of the programme. The additional 17 ships mark the second phase.
