Russia's Bashneft Bolstering Refining Defenses Against Drones

Russian refiner Bashneft has equipped its key facilities with drone nets to try and defend them against Ukrainian attacks according to the head of the Russian republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov.

  • He said the company was in talks with Russia's defence ministry about boosting the security of its refineries.
  • Reuters estimates that Russian total idled refining capacity has fallen to 10% compared with 14% at the end of March.
  • Attack attempts have abated in April, but Russia has shot down a number of drones trying to strike facilities.
