Trading on MOEX Briefly Suspended, CPI Data on the Docket This Afternoon

  • Trading on the MOEX stock exchange was briefly suspended earlier this morning, though MOEX sources did not provide a reason why. On Tuesday, the exchange suspended trading for almost two hours due to a server error.
  • Inflation data for January is the key release of the week and will cross at 16:00GMT/19:00 local time. As per the median estimate of the Bloomberg survey of analysts, headline CPI likely moderated slightly from +7.42% y/y in December to +7.30%.
  • Looking ahead, the CBR are expected to keep rates unchanged at 16% when they meet on Feb 16. Our preview for that meeting will be released later today.
